Compact battery management system designed for small Victron lithium installations requiring essential cell protection and load/charge control.
The Victron SmallBMS NG provides the core BMS functions — load disconnect, charge disconnect, and pre-alarm — for systems using Victron Smart Lithium and Lithium NG batteries. Rather than incorporating high-current switching internally, it controls external contactors to interrupt load and charge paths when cell voltages reach critical thresholds. This approach keeps the BMS itself extremely compact while supporting systems up to 100A continuous.
Communication via the VE.Bus BMS protocol allows it to signal MultiPlus and Quattro inverter/chargers to stop charging or disconnect loads in a coordinated manner. A programmable pre-alarm relay provides early warning before hard disconnects occur, giving connected systems time to reduce load gracefully. At just 63x55x28mm and 50 grams, the SmallBMS NG fits into the tightest battery compartments and control enclosures.
Used in Alchemy industrial power systems for lithium battery protection in compact mobile platforms, small surveillance installations, and embedded power systems where space is at a premium.
